Nathan Dufour, 2021 Verses Project Grant Recipient

Beyond honored to announce that I’m one of four recipients of a grant from the @verses_project, to support a concept album called the Hip-Hop History of World Philosophy !!! πŸŽ€πŸŒπŸ“š

The @verses_project carries on the legacy of @viceversesforever, co-founder and luminary of the mighty mighty @eownyc @eodub, a worldwide hip-hop community. @vicevvs was a mentor to me and many others in this community β€” he embraced what I was bringing to it and gave me unforgettable advice and support. His legacy has persisted with incredible power.

Receiving this support is a huge milestone in my career. Over the past few years, I’ve gotten to a point of being able to make income from my art and reach gradually wider audiences β€” but this is the first full-on grant I’ve gotten greenlighting an original solo project of my own conception. Yes indeed β€” a history of World Thought & a stylistic journey through hip-hop, from their origins to the present.

If anyone in my network has love for hip-hop, as an artist, acolyte or fan, follow the handles in this description, learn about Vice and about EODub, and get involved! The rewards will be mutual and abundant. I’m beside myself with gratitude.…And big ups to the other recipients @truewroteit  @melothemagnificent & @randymasonmusic!!!

ALSO β€” let me know what philosophers / regions / eras you want covered in this project β€” suggestions welcome! I want this to be a community-informed project from start to finish! Speaking of which, much love to https://www.instagram.com/agormaus/ the mega-talented producer who made the beat you hear in this vid.

V’s up ✌️✌️
